European Sport day with cross community schools

In a fantastic display of unity and sportsmanship, Strangford Integrated College hosted the first mixed sports programme through Shared Education. The event was a resounding success, bringing together young athletes from different communities to participate in a day filled with learning, competition, and camaraderie.

Our boys showcased their exceptional football skills, demonstrating their talent and passion for the sport. Additionally, they had the unique opportunity to develop their understanding and skills in Gaelic football, a sport that many were participating in for the first time. This mix of traditional football and Gaelic football provided an exciting and enriching experience for all participants.

The day was not just about sports; it was about building connections and fostering mutual respect among students from diverse backgrounds. The collaboration and interactions between the students highlighted the power of sports in breaking down barriers and creating lasting friendships.

The feedback from the participants was overwhelmingly positive. Many expressed their gratitude for the chance to learn new sports and interact with peers from different communities. This event emphasized the importance of Shared Education in promoting inclusivity and teamwork among young people.

We look forward to many more such events that bring together students from various backgrounds, celebrating diversity and unity through sports. A great day of mixing, learning, and sharing new sports with schools from different communities!
