Myself and the politics teacher have worked with students over the academic year on a programme of debating. This began small scale, with teams of three students competing in small heats in front of 2 members of staff on the subject of sustainability.
The winners of these heats went on to compete against each other in front of staff, SLT and around 50 students. The next stop was to invite local high schools in. 6 schools brought teams, and our ambassador students worked with them as mentors to research and formula arguments on whether sustainability should be delivered in schools as part of the curriculum. Our ambassadors then formed part of the judging panel.

Our debating team has also been out to other local colleges and represented East Norfolk. It has been a privilege to watch these young people develop in confidence and resilience as well as progressing their democratic learning.

Brilliant project! So good to get students learning and practicing these skills and to extend it beyond your college. Well done.
