Europe Day celebrations

We announced the Europe Day celebrations beforehand in our school weekly announcements. On the 8th of May, we celebrated Europe Day by decorating the school entry and playing European music (e.g. from the Eurovision Song Contest or the European Anthem).

In the breaks, we gave out decorated biscuits, played music and answered questions about Europe and the EU. Later on that day, we visited the Europe House in London, participated in an event with a Member of the British Parliament and learned about democracy and the EU, also engaging in group activities and discussions with students from other, partially international, schools. We also heard talks about the international work of European Liaison offices, the very concept of democracy and how European cooperation in fields like education, defense, protection of the environment, etc. is organised.

In conclusion, the celebrations attracted many visitors in our school and provided them with elementary and accessible information, while the European Ambassadors learned about more advanced and interestingly complex structures within the EU. We were also inspired by the European Ambassadors from other schools and their astounding projects.
